AN EASY & SIMPLE WAY TO HARNESS THE POWER OF CITIZEN SCIENTISTS VIA MOBILE
Greetings!

We are a non-profit, academic research group at Carnegie Mellon University, exploring the use of technologies in enhancing grassroots citizen science activities. Our goal is to provide the technical system that can support the small volunteer groups and local organizations in environmental and community-based issues in solving various problems.

To serve our goal, we designed this system, SENSR, a web-based visual environment where people who want to collect and explore small set of data can build an iPhone application as a data collection tool. And anybody around the world can help collecting the data by using the tool.

We trust the power and wisdom of crowds. We wanted to remove any technical obstacles in collecting data from you activist individuals and groups. What is more important is data itself, not the tool to collect data. We hope our system can take the technical burden in building the data collection tool, and you can fully focus on a social, environmental, or political phenomenon itself.

Our system not only helps you build the data collection tool, but also distribute your campaigns and activities to the world. People who download and use the SENSR iPhone application will see them on their devices, and it is easy as just clicking one button to participate in your activity. A small amount of time and effort of individuals in helping collect data will change the world.

This system does not hold or trace any personal information.
Please send us an email at research.hcii@gmail.com if you have any questions, difficulty in using the system, or any suggestions.

Best regards,
Reserach Team at CMU!
